See What Folks are Saying About Experimental D5-055 Hops
“Newly released from the fine folks at Segal Ranch Hop Farm, D5-055 might be the best new hop variety we’ve seen in a while. With wildly expressive aromas of ruby red grapefruit, pink pomelo, and overripe pineapple, this hop is anything but subtle. We couldn’t help but run it with a clean and lean little West Coast Pale Ale in an attempt to really let the hop itself shine. Crisp, snappy, and focused, this showcase of D5-055 reminds us that sometimes simple is better." - Quote from Cellarmaker Brewing Company
"We took the double IPA base recipe for Nothing But Lasers and swapped out the hops. Malt, yeast, water, process all stay the same but instead of using the ever popular NZ varieties you know well we used nothing but experimental varieties that haven’t been named yet and are known just by their numbers. No one has ever used this hop combo and we won’t be able to again either as two of these varieties never made it to full commercial production. Hotside additions of mostly NZH104 and HBC1019 are followed by a large two stage dry hop of more 1019, a new variety from Segal Hop Ranch called D5-055, and NZH105. We’re getting saturated flavors of over ripe tropical fruit, orange creamsicle, and bright lemon zest with even a hint of rum barrel from the 1019. Definitely tiki vibes, that’s for sure." - Quote from Offset Bier Co
