New Zealand Moutere Hop Profile

Moutere™ is a high-alpha variety (15.5-18.0%) from NZ Hops, created by a cross between Southern Cross and a selected New Zealand male. Moutere™ is very fruit-forward with notes of tropical fruit and ripe grapefruit, backed by resinous pine — an ideal pick for hop-forward ales and IPAs. Some brewers also report aromas of sweet hay, which fit nicely in a pilsner or saison. A big hop built for big beers, Moutere works great as an all-around bittering hop, though late additions highlight the distinctive tropical and passionfruit characteristics common to many New Zealand varieties.
