Thora is a new public hop variety developed in collaboration between the USDA Agricultural Research Service (USDA-ARS) and the Hop Quality Group. A variety designed with growers and brewers in mind, it delivers excellent agronomics (like competitive yields and strong disease resistance) alongside desirable brewing characteristics.
Named after the Old Norse word Þórr, meaning “thunder,” Thora offers moderate alpha and a blend of passionfruit, citrus and stone fruit rounded out by resin. Thora's high concentration of thiols sets it apart with compounds like 4MMP, 3S4MP, and 3MH that exceed levels found in many U.S. grown varieties. An expressive hop bred for thunderous applause.
